Hi , my name is Susan and I'm a mommy.  Ok, I guess I'm more than that, but in my current phase of life, that is pretty  much the biggest part of me.  If you are reading this, you are probably a mommy (or are close to one) and you know what I mean.  You will probably also know that it means I don't have a lot of free time (if any)!   And I don't have to even explain how my kids mean the world to me.  They are the reason I am writing this blog.   I want the world to be a better place, for them.  I want the world to be cleaner, healthier, nicer, prettier, all of that, because my babies are out there in it.  What I see often scares the living daylights out of me.  My children are young enough right now (4 and 1)  that I can be with them all the time and they still think I'm the best person on the planet.  So while they are young, and before they are out in that scary world on their own, I want to do my part to improve the world for them.

So ... how does a busy mommy find the time to make environmentally sound choices?  What do I buy at the store that is a better option?  How can I reduce my household energy consumption?  How can I teach my children to respect the Earth, to not be wasteful, to appreciate what we have and to care for it all?

I'll be testing out various ideas, products, local Jacksonville resources, and reporting on it here.

I call this the "Mommy vine" because I see my blog as a vine that can pretty much go and grow anywhere, and has multiple fruits.  Like a vine, I'm not sure where it might go, but we'll just see what happens!  (And it has nothing to do with wine.  Really.  No, really.  Ok, well, maybe just a little.)

Here's a little something you may have seen in your inbox, as it's been making the rounds, but it makes me smile.  Hope it makes you smile too!

Real Mothers don't eat quiche; they don't have time to make it.

Real Mothers know that their kitchen utensils are probably in the sandbox.

Real Mothers often have sticky floors, filthy ovens and happy kids.

Real Mothers know that dried play dough  doesn't come out of carpets.

Real Mothers don't want to know what the vacuum just sucked up.

Real Mothers sometimes ask 'Why me?'   and get their answer when a little  voice says, 'Because I love you best..'

Real Mothers know that a child's growth  is not measured by height or years or grade...

It is marked by the progression of Mommy to Mom to  Mother...
