Event Description: In climate strategies and conservation approaches, management of lands by Indigenous peoples and local communities are under-represented, favoring exclusion of people over integration of traditional management approaches. This session will highlight recent research that explores international policies and land-based climate strategies, and how they impact indigenous and community land tenure. A panel of speakers, with Q&A from audience members, will discuss future research needs that will make the case for indigenous and community land rights, as well as strategies for better integrating land rights into existing policies and international agreements.
